For my baby shower two years ago, Heather truly outdid herself. The tea room was awash in cherry blossoms (to match the collaged invitation she made inspired by Eric Carle, of course), hand-made table-runners (made by my Mom) adorned the beautifully set table, and mini wooden easels holding tiny canvases greeted each guest at their seat. She knows of my odd fondness for anything in miniature, so the easels and canvases were perfect! But she took it a step further and added the tiniest set of watercolors for each of my friends to make a mini painting for my sons room. By giving them a 2" x 2" blank canvas (literally), it brought out their creativity, made it a fun part of the party, and assembled a mini art collection I'll always have for Kasey.
Fast-forward to last week, when we were approached by a bride looking for event accessories for her artsy, Parisian-themed wedding. I can't believe it took me the whole 5 minutes to come up with the mini easel and canvas. It's the perfect 2-in-1 favor/placecard - we're all about our accessories doing double duty these days! We can add a removable printed paper tag with each guests name as an escort or place card, and then the canvas and easel is theirs to keep - unless you challenge them channel their inner artist.
